BARNWELL COUNTY, S.C. - On Monday, July 1st, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged 62-year-old Jacqueline Reid with 2 counts of murder.

The accused murderer was booked into the Barnwell County Detention Center.

Investigations began in February of 2024, after the pregnant 17-year-old Maylayshia Hogg was found dead in Barnwell. The Barnwell Police Department called SLED in to help with the investigation.

Maylashia's daughter was to be named Londyn Charity.

According to the arrest warrant, Maylashia died after being stabbed multiple times with a sharp-edged weapon.

We're told a search warrant executed at the home of Jacqueline Reid revealed forensic evidence of Hogg's death.

A motive has not been made clear.

SLED Chief Mark Keel released a statement to FOX54 saying ""No matter where you live, no matter where you're from, everybody in this state deserves an equal
level of law enforcement service... Every case is important, and every victim deserves justice.”

This investigation is ongoing. Stay with FOX54 for the latest updates.
