AUGUSTA, Ga. (WFXG) - UPDATE: Augusta Fire/EMA say they were dispatched to the apartment complex after a caller reported hearing fireworks for more than two hours before noticing a fire on the apartment building. 

Augusta Fire says the caller began knocking on doors and letting residents know there apartment was on fire and to get out. According to the report, 16 units were burned. Firefighters says one person was injured because she escaped the fire from her balcony.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Police and fire crews responded to a structure fire at Nine Two Six West Apartments in Augusta Wednesday night. 

Richmond County dispatch confirms that the call first came in at 10:54 p.m. Thursday night. No injuries have been reported at this time. The complex is located at 926 Stevens Creek Road. 

The fire is under control and the scene is still active as of 1 a.m. Thursday.
